Dromore Road Race Report 2016
June 29, 2016The eighth Dromore 10K and 5K Run/Walk took place on Saturday 25th June with just under 400 participants taking part over three events- the 10K, 5K Run and 5K Walk. The route takes in the picturesque ‘Riverside Walk’ with a finish through the centre of the town and was once again sponsored by McDermott’s Pharmacy Dromore.
The 10K was won by Martin Cox from Derry Track Clun who had a clear lead throughout and came over the line in 34.25 followed by Stephen Cassidy from Irvinestown in 35.16. First local and third place finisher was Conor Maguire from Dromore in 37.24, improving on his 5th place in the Enniskillen 10K.
In the Ladies race Paula Donnelly from Brookeborough was first over the line in 43.06 followed by local Dromore runner Mairead McCann (45.33) who is returning from injury and Pamela Woods (Fintona) was third in 46.47
Omagh Harriers had a clean sweep in the 5K run taking the top three male spots led by Matthew Neill (19.12), Martin McLaughlin (19.22) and Ryan Reid (19.53). Victory for the local town went to Aisling O’Neill (23.37) and Coleen O’Neill (24.35) in the female race with Irene Clements from Enniskillen in third (25.03).
A huge number of locals came out to support the annual event including the Dromore Sports Complex Running Group, Dromore Walking group and many from the local football team and businesses.
